Microdermabrasion is a technique to smooth away the raised, keratin plugs that are a feature of keratosis pilaris (kp).
How does it work?
The principle behind microdermabrasion is the use of a highly efficient exfoliating agent: AlO crystals.
AlO crystals are monodisperse, i.e. they are all made of the same hard material, and the size of the crystals is extremely uniform.
What is Microderm kp Gel?
Microderm kp Gel contains an extremely high level of active AlO microdermabrasion crystals (61%) so it is unlike some creams and lotions, which only contain a very low amount of the active crystals.
Microderm kp Gel contains vegetable glycerine, and New Zealand clover honey, to hydrate and nourish the skin.
For those people who don't like perfume... there is also a fragrance free version of Microderm kp Gel available!
How do you use Microderm kp Gel?
Microderm kp Gel is formulated to be used once daily in the shower, so it is quick and easy to use!
Step 1. Use a gentle cleanser to prepare the skin
Step 2. Apply a small amount, about the size of a nickel (2 cm diameter), of Microderm kp Gel into the palm of the hand.
Step 3. Using the palm, rub the Gel onto the affected skin. A back and forwards motion is best, because a circular motion may curl the skin's small hairs!
Step 4. Rinse off the remaining crystals with shower water.
Effects of Microdermabrasion?
AlO crystals are uniform, and hard, so they very efficiently exfoliate the skin. You may notice that the skin is slightly pink after use, however this fades within minutes.
Do I apply a cream or lotion afterwards?
It is not recommended that anything is applied to the skin immediately after microdermabrasion. Just let the skin naturally readjust to its improved state!
I want fast results...can I use it really often?
Some people think that if a little is good, then a lot is better...Please resist the temptation to overdo things..! Just use Microderm kp Gel once a day, you will see results!
Hydrating the skin to improve the effectiveness
If the hard, keratin plugs are softened beforehand, then the microdermabrasion is enhanced. It is therefore recommended that a mild cream or oleum, is applied 12 hours beforehand. For example, you might like to apply your favourite cream at night, and then use Microderm kp Gel during your morning shower.
How long will a bottle last?
Microderm kp Gel is concentrated (61% crystals) and comes as a 200g (7oz) bottle. Depending on the areas affected by kp, this will last for 1 - 2 months. Once the keratin plugs are removed, you will not need to use microdermabrasion as often, or at all!
